Dene has been involved in the flooring industry in New Zealand for over 25 years. He started off with floor preparation, sanding, and fine finishes and then expanded into substrate preparation of concrete slabs. He gained NZQA qualifications in both disciplines.
As the flooring industry has evolved and more products developed, Dene became particularly interested in the area of moisture-related problems and the solutions to address this. To understand more of the issues faced by the industry he undertook a course through ICRI in the states to become a certified moisture technician and member.
Dene is currently the only ICRI Certified Moisture Testing Technician in New Zealand. Click here to view the list of ICRI certified technicians.
Dene understands the pressure on companies to produce the final product in a timely manner. Flooring is at the end of most projects which are often over-run. This can leave many companies and sub-contractors making Go/No-Go decisions regarding floor coating installations without the correct information. This puts them at risk of flooring failures.
It is important to have the backing of certified information and he saw the need in New Zealand to offer this to the industry in order to safeguard clients and contractors to minimise the risk of flooring failures.
